The Great Basin Basketmakers exhibit at the Nevada State Museum

Carson City , Nevada- May 11-August 5, 2007. The Nevada State Museum hosted Interwoven II: Visions of the Great Basin Basketmakers, an exhibition featuring original hand woven baskets, sculptures and vessels. Unique and expressive contemporary and traditional creations by many of the regions finest basketmakers were displayed in the Changing Gallery from May 11 through August 5, 2007.

The group held an exhibit at the Nevada State Museum in Carson City in 2006 and it was such a success that they were invited back for 2007 Over the last 20 years, this Reno area guild has showcased the art of basketmaking with displays in libraries, galleries and statewide touring exhibits. They have earned recognition as basket artists and their passion for basketry is highly appreciated by those who have seen their work. The group, which has over 200 members nationwide, works with a variety of materials such as native plants and grasses, reed, willow, wire, paper and fibers.
